Are you interested in volunteering as a community scientist to monitor Bald Eagle nests with Bird Conservancy of the Rockies? Join us for a virtual volunteer training on Saturday, January 22, 2022!
Training is mandatory in order to participate and will be conducted virtually, using Zoom.  The day will be split into two segments – one in the morning for new volunteers, and one in the afternoon for experienced participants. Advance registration for one or both sessions is also required.
New Volunteer Training: Saturday, January 22rd, 9-11am
  • Basics of becoming a Bald Eagle Watch (BEW) volunteer
  • BEW goals and objectives
  • Bald Eagle natural history, identification, observation procedures
  • Basic observation reporting tools and methods
  • Preliminary nest monitoring assignments
Returning Volunteer Training: Saturday, January 22rd, 1-3pm
  • Changes in monitoring procedures and reporting
  • Lessons learned from 2021 monitoring season
  • Data entry protocols
  • Getting more out of CitSci’s BEW data portal
  • Volunteer feedback to improve the program



Prospective new volunteers will need to complete insurance liability waiver and background check steps before becoming eligible to join the program and monitor nests.
These will be processed after the volunteer training for those who accept assignments.
